Youth Views on Transition

Transition Town Weymouth and Portland is building bridges toward the future, with one absolute certainty – that it will be different from the present. The age of cheap oil is over, and this together with Climate Change and global issues like food insecurity means that human beings, particularly in the more developed world, are finding new and different ways of improving their quality of life without messing up the life chances of future generations.

YOUNG People in Weymouth need a strong voice in this. We need their enthusiasm, intelligence, new thinking and humour, but above all they need to take a real part in making sure that the future for all people in Weymouth and Portland is as good, or even better, than the present. Even without oil!

We encourage all Transition Town activities to have a youth dimension, and we organise events and programmes especially for youth. Here are three examples:

1) Car-less boot sale for children

This is genious. Why didn’t anyone think of this before? Keep your eyes open for next event. Be part of it!

2) Children cooking for independence

Poster for one of our youth activities. We think it is tasty and intelligent at the same time

3) Get your voice heard via the Youth Voice (Yes, you can actually use this form. Print it out and send it in now)
